Did you already have a creative frenzy today?

The ideal conception looks more or less like this: When approaching the office, the mood already reaches the optimum, the steps are light, and the smile on the face shows anticipation. The sight of the workplace results in an energy boost, and from the very first move, the member of staff starts with his work in a highly concentrated manner.

Have you recognized yourself or your employees? Only to a certain extent? - Rest assured, you are not on your own! It's not so easy, however, to conjure this frenzy visually. To get into the "flow", certain conditions have to be fulfilled.

In 1990, Mihály Csíkszentmiháli, a professor of psychology at the Claremont Graduate University in California, published his book "Flow". In this book, he describes the mode of happiness occurring when you are totally wrapped up in your work.

In order to experience a "flow" during your work, some special "ingredients" are necessary. The basis is a real challenge for the employee - it must be, however, in balance with his qualification. This balance is decisive for the wellbeing of the employee. This is quite understandable because if the task is too difficult, fear will develop - if the task is too simple, boredom will be the result.

Another important factor is a clear objective: the employee knows where the journey is going and he possesses a correspondingly high level of self-control to reach the relevant objectives.

"Flow" means, concentration, motivation and the environment interact in productive harmony. If the mixture is right, there will be a fusion of consciousness and action. When watching children engrossed in their play, this can be observed quite well: The activity must please, and the challenge must be so high that it requires full concentration, on the one hand, but still must seem to be effortless, on the other hand.

So much for the theory. But what does it mean in practice? Edeltraud Borsik, working for many years as a coach says: "Flow" is a certain form of happiness which one can influence since there are many screws which can be tightened."

This includes, amongst others, leadership skills, team interaction, simplicity of tasks, transparent interfaces and creative design options for the individual employee - wherever possible.

In this connection, naturally, trust in the direct superior, a feeling of security regarding the company and the hope for a mutually successful future plays an important role for the individual employee.

Due to their trained outside view, the specialists from VeMEMaS GmbH are able to recognize these adjusting screws and offer support with optimization. The benefit for the company: dedicated, motivated and satisfied employees with a close relationship to their company. And if you will see employees in your company who are engrossed in their work as the saying goes: "Hours do not strike for a happy man", in this case, please do not disturb them since they are having a "flow" just now.
